Athletic Training Outreach
Athletic Trainers (AT) are proficient in the acute care of injuries and illnesses, therapeutic exercise for the physically active, general medical conditions and disabilities, nutrition, health care administration and concussion assessment, treatment, management and rehabilitation. Their main function, however, is recognizing and evaluating athletic injuries.
As a licensed allied health professional, AT’s receive comprehensive didactic and clinical training in concussion management. They are typically the first providers to identify and evaluate injured and are integral in the post injury management and return-to-play decision-making process. The presence of an AT dramatically increases the chances that a concussion will be diagnosed, which is critical to avoiding not only a more lengthy recovery but the risk of permanent brain damage.
We provide AT’s, free of charge to the surrounding area high schools for coverage of sporting events. If your school is interested in receiving free AT coverage, please contact Andi Reeves.
